goodbye blue monday is one of the homiest places to perform in nyc. it's a fun knick knack thift store junk shop cafe slash live music place. the stage is a comfortable size, and place is small enough, you could get away with singing with out mics, if you're a confident singer. there is a small but dedicated audience of regulars and musicians. the piano is tuned and used in performances. the owner is pleasant and focused on helping the music scene. there is beer, wine, coffee, and snacks available. highly recommended, the cider rum when it's available. they play music in the background when you're setting up and are very friendly to small touring bands. book way ahead of schedule. the only downer is the main access is by JMZ, which doesn't run that often when it's late and you're finishing up a show. for some this place is too deep into bushwick, but you gotta face a fact that manhattan and even williamsburg are getting too pricey. art and music will be moving deeper into these burroughs.

the stage is spacious enough for a full band. there is tons of space for audience. upstairs viewing also. there is also a backroom to the left of the stage, where bands can put their equipment, though it usually turns into a smoke room as the night progresses. the owners are very nice and usually do the sound check and mix the first couple of songs to set you on your way. they plug in their mac and play music in between acts.
